When I first turned up to start work for Pulleyn Transport Ltd, Three Mile Cross, Reading, on a sunday afternoon in October '90, I was greeted at the gates by Bob White, who said "there's your lorry, there's your paperwork, you're clearing customs in Knokkeheist in Belgium, ring me when you're empty, i'm off home, see ya". And that was that!! The lorry was F970 NRD, a 1644 Merc with a huge steering wheel (them Germans must have bloody long arms!!). Moved onto F972 after a short while.
Taken in Battipaglia, just south of Naples, in the days when Pulleyns still had tilts:
Doing a double-manned run down to Rome, Darren Speake and I decided to call it a day (late Friday night actually) at Aosta, and parked up next to this old Scania 141:
On waking up saturday morning we find the old 141 is actually being driven by an old work-mate of mine, Chris Barrett. Time to get the beers out!! Where are you now Chris?
The mighty 1748 F681 PRX (smaller steering wheel thank god), taken at the top of the Simplon Pass, enroute from somewhere in Italy to Montreux in Switzerland:
And so on to a few Dafs, starting with G479 BJB, a 380 Space Cab: those with good eyesight will spot it hiding near the top-right corner!! This one's taken in the port of Saint Malo:
Parked up next to an FTF, whatever one of them is:
In the parking area on the French side of the Mont Blanc tunnel:
Five of us all waiting to load in Sheerness docks:
